In the State of New York, Gakkyusha U.S.A. Co., Ltd. was established in January 1987 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Gakkyusha Co., Ltd. Gakkyusha U.S.A. opened its first school in the United States, ena New York, in April 1987. In 2018, we operate 11 schools in seven different states in the United States: New York, New Jersey, Illinois, California, Michigan, Maryland and Texas. We have approximately 1,000 students and presently employ about 45 full-time instructors and 15 part-time instructors in the United States. We provide after school education for Japanese children aged between 2 and 18.

There are tens of thousands of Japanese families living in any major cities in the United States, Canada, and Singapore. Due to major differences in the teaching methodology and standards in education systems among Japan, U.S.A., Canada, and Singapore, the children of these families who have been temporarily removed from the mainstream of Japanese education are confronted with difficulty upon both their adaptation to the foreign systems using English language and their return to the Japanese system. To address these needs, we have established an after-school educational system, which provides educational programs for Japanese pupils temporarily living in the U.S.A., Canada, or Singapore: the supplemental programs that they need to keep up with the daytime school curriculums in U.S.A., Canada, or Singapore and the paralleled programs that they would have received if they remained in Japan.

In 2007, Gakkyusha U.S.A. Co., Ltd. established Gakkyusha Canada Co., Ltd. as a wholly owned subsidiary in Ontario, Canada which is now operating two schools in the Toronto Metropolitan area. Also, we started another wholly owned subsidiary, Gakkyusha Singapore Pte. Ltd. in 2009.

In January 2011, Gakkyusha U.S.A. Co., Ltd. has re-imported its overseas grown system to Japan and has founds its third 100% owned subsidiary, Gakkyusha Kikokukyoiku (Returnees’ Education) Co., Ltd. in Japan which operates three schools in Shibuya, Nihonbashi-Kayabacho(Tokyo) and Azamino (Yokohama) specialized in returning children from English speaking countries.
Here, we provide the paralleled programs that they would have received if they in abroad.
In fiscal year ended January 31, 2019, Gakkyusha U.S.A. Co., Ltd. including its three subsidiaries had nearly seven million US Dollars in gross revenues.
